A massive fire has broken out at a waste recycling centre in Sydney, sending a massive plume of thick, black smoke across the city's west.
The large recycling plant is fully involved in fire at Chullora with 100 firefighters from 20 surrounding fire stations in attendance to fight the blaze on Muir Rd.
The factory is full of recycling materials including carpets, plastics and paper while there are also gas cylinders inside which are being cooled.
Crews are stationed at all four corners of the huge factory which measures 100 metres long by 70 metres wide with numerous hose lines being used.
The blaze is also creating a huge pall of smoke which is visible across the Sydney metro area with the roof already partially collapsing.
The factory has been safely evacuated with no injuries and surrounding factories are also being evacuated.
The building is expected to be burning for some time yet.
