Some relief is in sight from this heat Sydney, but first we'll have to sweat it out this morning.
It hit over 30 degrees in the west by 8am, after a pretty sticky night with the temp only dipping to 25 degrees in the city, while it was a hot 33 degrees at Terry Hills.
A total fire ban is in place across the Greater Sydney area, it's expected we will see the mercury climb to 36 degree along the coast, a scorching 42 degrees in the west.
A southerly change is expected to sweep across the city from midday, with rain and thunderstorms on the cards, while the west can expect some relief around 1pm.
"We'll start to see the temperatures dropping later today, we could see a few showers with that from late afternoon, and then those temps will begin to drop and push through into tomorrow as well" Tom Hoff Meteorologist from Weatherzone said.
"Sydney itself could see a temperature drop from around 10 degrees by tomorrow's maximum, so we're looking around 24 degrees tomorrow for Sydney city itself" Hoff said.
While as for the festive period, it looks like a bit of a mixed bag when it comes to the big day!
"We'll see another brief period of warmth on Christmas eve, it's looking like we could just peak up to the low 30's again Christmas eve, but not quite to the extent we will see today".
"With that warmth on Christmas eve, we will see another change going through on Christmas day at this stage, and with that that will bring the chance of a few showers and cooler temperatures as well".
