BREAKING: Monday's Train Strike Is Cancelled

In breaking news, the 24-hour train strike planned for Monday January 29 is cancelled.

A six week ban has been placed on this industrial action, with the FairWork Commission suspending the planned action.

This comes after several days of meetings between the NSW Government and the rail union at the commission.

The FairWork Commission's decision came as the strike was "threatening to cause significant damage to the Australian economy or an important part of it".

This comes as the chaos appeared to be too devastating for the economy, with a projected $50 million to $90 million loss to the economy as a consequence of the strike action.

Some elective surgery would also have to be cancelled, as well as hospitals only taking emergency patients.

More to come.
