Some of our favourite Aussie acts are coming together to raise money and awareness for the national Marriage Equality Campaign.
The gig will be held at Sydney’s Enmore Theatre on Tuesday 12th September, and all artists are performing for free! Tickets are just $70 and all proceeds from the whole event will go to Australian Marriage Equality, the registered charity that is coordinating the national Equality Campaign.
The Jezabels, Killing Heidi, Sarah Blasko, Holly Throsby, Andy Bull, Frenzal Rhomb’s Jay and Lindsay and Sydney’s Jack Colwell are just a few of the acts that will be playing on the night.
Killing Heidi’s Ella Hooper stated, “I am embarrassed that marriage equality is still an unresolved issue in Australia — a country that loves to tout the fair go for all… that slogan rings hollow when ‘all’ are clearly not treated equally or given access to the same rights, procedures and protections of the law."
Jack Colwell added, “It’s high time that the majority stood up for what is right… As a gay man it means a huge amount to me that all these musicians, both queer and non-queer, have come together to show their support for the LGBT+ community.”
Tickets are already on sale… this is the perfect excuse to go see some music and when that ballot paper arrive in your letter box in September please vote ‘Yes’.
