The Smith Family Foundation's launched their 2018 Winter Appeal this week.
The scheme raises funds for education support, and are now calling for Limestone Coast residents to help break the cycle of poverty for disadvantaged Aussie kids.
They're looking to raise $4.1 million by the end of the month to deliver life-changing learning and mentoring programs to nearly 10,000 kids.
1.1 million young people are living below the poverty line in the country, with the Foundation providing programs to help 120,000 kids through mentoring and education programs last year.
This year marks the 30 year anniversary of providing education programs instead of emergency assistance.
Smith family spokesperson Wendy Field says with more than 1 in 7 young people living below the poverty line, support is more critical than ever this year.
