The State Government's Playground to Plate program will be making it's way to Sunraysia, a number of schools seeing support.
$500,000 has been handed down for school's across Victoria to help set up the gardens and boost healthy food education.
The program provides funds to help get kids involved with growing, harvesting, preparing and sharing food; as well as improving the overall health and wellbeing of the school community.
Red Cliffs East Primary School, Ranfurly Primary School, Mildura Specialist School, Mildura Primary School, Nangiloc Colignan and District Primary School, and Merbein P-10 college are all set to recieve support under the scheme.
The schools can now use the grants to build gardening beds, buy gardening tools or kitchen equipment.
Northern Victorian MP Mark Gepp has applauded the news - saying it's an excellent opportunity for schools to teach gardening and cooking skills that emphasis flavors as well as the benefits of fresh, seasonal food.
