Council signs first agreement!

Sunraysia's business owners urged to take advantage of EUAs!

Mildura Rural City Council have signed it’s first EUA this week, providing a boost for local businesses looking to become environmentally sustainable.

An Environmental Upgrade Agreement features financial institutions lending funds to a commercial property owner to complete upgraded works that would improve their environmental performance.

These funds are then re-payed through the property owner’s Council rates.

The funds are set to be delivered through a partnership between Council and Building Better Finance

Mildura’s Ritchie IGA Supermarket on Deakin Avenue is the first business in Sunraysia to take advantage of the scheme.

A 90 kW solar system will be installed at the supermarket, benefiting both the company but also the environment.

To be eligible for the agreement, building owners must pay Council rates, ensure planned works are retro-fit projects of non-residential buildings and deliver environmental benefits.

The EUA's can fund any projects that improve energy, water, or waste efficiency.
