Families across Sunraysia are set to benefit with new reforms to child care and early learning passing through parliament.

Member for Mallee Andrew Broad says the injection of 1.6 billion into the system will leave many families better off plus make childcare finally seem a viable option for families who can't afford it.

He says one of the consistent messages he receives around our region is that child care and early learning prices are so high that it's not even an option for many local families.


New statistics have revealed the impact cancer is having locally in Mildura with 123 locals losing their lives to the deadly disease in 2015.

In that year there were 336 people diagnosed with some sort of cancer - the most frequent in our region being prostate, breast, bowel, melanoma and lung.

Cancer Council Victoria CEO Todd Harper says although we aren't where we need to be the data does show more people are surviving for longer after cancer diagnosis


The Fair Work Ombudsman is spruiking an innovative phone application to held businesses and employees with their record keeping.

Goulburn valley workers are urged to get the Record My Hours app to keep track of timesheets to avoid contraventions under the fair work act.

Among the app's features it can use geo fencing technology to log when an employee is at their workplace- in case hours are disputed down the track.

Sunraysia motorcycling legend Leigh Adams has been inducted into the Australian Motor Sport Hall of Fame.

The Speedway Champion was inducted on Friday night in Melbourne along with 21 other sporting legends

Among his success he's claimed 10 Australian solo championships and multiple grand prix speedway wins.
