Local student will be learning water safety from the best in the business, with the Westpac Helicopter LifeSaver Rescue Helicopter set to land in Mildura.
Crews will be working with primary school students to highlight the importance of water safety, working to raise awareness of the need to play it safe around the water.
The move comes as a part of Water Safety Week, with students hearing about the Westpac LifeSaver Rescue Service and the role it plays across Victoria, preventing and responding to emergencies.'
LifeSaving Victoria’s Manager of Operations Greg Scott says it’s essential that children understand that even though waterways look inviting, they pose many dangers.
The visit comes off the back of the release of the Victorian Drowning Report 2017, which highlighted inland waterways as the major location for drowning deaths in the 2016-2017 period.
