Hundreds of thousands has been saved with the upgrade of Mildura Weir's winch system; as Goulburn Murray Water complete three weeks of upgraded works.
The group has upgraded the winch's hydraulic and electrical systems, saving the group hundreds of thousands in replacement costs.
The upgrade includes a colour touch screen system for operations staff, and added safety features including load cells - that ensure the winch isn't being overloaded.
The project will allow the weir to raise the water levels of the riverbed to be raised around 3.9 metres to form a pool; for stable diversions to Lower Murray Water's Mildura and Red Cliffs Districts.
