Teenager Charged Over Car Thefts

A 17-year-old has been charged in relation to a number of recent car thefts in the Murgon and Cherbourg areas.

The youth will face 45 charges, including 11 counts of unlawful use of a motor vehicle, four counts of stealing petrol, dangerous operation of a motor vehicle, stealing liquor from a bottleshop in Gympie, unlicensed driving and two counts of failing to stop (evade police).

The Cherbourg teenager has also been charged with entering premises with intent to commit an indictable offence after a break-in at Graham House in Murgon, and wilful damage to a police car after alcohol cans were allegedly thrown at the vehicle in Cherbourg.

He has been remanded in custody on other matters and will appear in Murgon Children’s Court tomorrow, June 22.
