More police resources will be provided to help tackle the crime problem in Cherbourg and Murgon with the announcement yesterday of a tactical crime squad to be posted to the region.

The Queensland Government has announced a senior officer will be stationed in the area for 3 months, along with four permanent second year constables.

Police Minister Mark Ryan says the community has made it clear that they just want to see more police on our streets, adding that “criminals will not win.”

However, the State opposition says the response by the Government to tackle crime in Cherbourg and Murgon is not good enough with Nanango MP Deb  Frecklington saying the appointment of the senior officer for three months is only a band aid solution.  She wants to see more long term strategies for the area.
