Thirty-three people have been arrested on 78 counts following a major drug operation conducted in the South Burnett region.

The operation, which has been led by Murgon and Kingaroy Detectives, was rolled out over three phases over the past week.

Multiple search warrants were executed in Murgon, Cherbourg, Kingaroy, Nanango, Blackbutt and Yarraman targeting persons implicated in the use, production and supply of illicit drugs.

A search of a Blackbutt property located 234 cannabis plants  with a 65-year-old man due to front Nanango Magistrates Court on next month.

A 48-year-old Mondure man was charged in relation to firearm and drug offences, after a quantity of cannabis, firearms and ammunition were located at a Mondure property.

Throughout the course of the operation, quantities of amphetamine, cannabis and drug paraphernalia including syringes and needles, and also weapons and ammunition were seized.

Police say that the action taken this week demonstrates the commitment police have to stopping the production and supply of drugs in the South Burnett.
