The Lachlan Valley Railway (LVR) are heading to Griffith loaded with people heading to the Taste Riverina gourmet weekend!

If you've ever wanted to sample the fine dining train experience, now you can!

“For the first time ever we are bringing the 1949 air-conditioned dining car to Griffith,” LVR Secretary/Treasurer John Healey said.

“Back in the day, this beautiful dining car was part of the intercapital daylight fleet and seats 44 diners in retro style.

“We wanted to offer the people of Griffith a unique experience and feature the local produce and wines the Riverina is famous for.”

For $79.50*, you will receive a three-course menu featuring local Riverina produce by Sugar Mill Patisserie and local wines by Yarrah Wines and Mino & Co.

You'll also have a locally-farmed Murray cod canape, slow-cooked Junee lamb with seasonal vegetable sides and a panna cotta dessert made with local limoncello.

“The train will roll along the tracks to Goolgowi just on sunset, and provide a big night sky and plenty of opportunity for star gazing and dinner conversation,” Griffith City Council Marketing and Promotions Officer Paige Campbell said.

“Being the long weekend people may be looking for something special to do on Saturday night or may have friends and family coming to visit. The pop-up dinner train provides another great dining option in Griffith.”

Get in quick to book because there are only 44 places for one night only - Saturday, 29 September 2018!

The dinner train experience is $79.50, which includes heritage train ride, glass of bubbles on arrival and three-course meal.
