Three Weeks Left For Family Assistance Receivers To Lodge Tax Returns

Families who received family assistance in the 2016-17 financial year are urged to lodge their tax returns by 30 June 2018.

There's now just over a week left to do so, with Department of Human Services General Manager, Hank Jongen reminding families that now is the time to make a lump sum claim for some family payments. Not only that, but he says to get ready for the new Child Care Subsidy.

“The vast majority of Family Tax Benefit payment recipients have met their obligations for 2016-17, but we are still waiting on some families to get last year’s tax done so that we can balance their payments and make sure they received the right amount

If families don’t lodge a tax return – or let us know they don’t need to – they could be missing out on a top-up or supplement payment ,Mr Jongen said.
