Griffith City Council and the Murrumbidgee Local Health District (MLHD) are encouraging locals to ‘make healthy normal’ with a new campaign.

Statistically over half of NSW adults are overweight, causing a number of associated health conditions including diabetes, cardiovascular diseases and cancer.

Council’s Community Development Co-ordinator Peta Dummett stated that it’s the small changes that can make a big difference, which is what the campaign aims to educate locals on.

“Regular physical activity helps you maintain good health and manage your weight and it also makes you feel happier, which is good for your overall mental health.”

As part of the campaign, Ms Dummett and MLHD Health Promotion Co-ordinator Judy Callinan placed stickers around City Park last week. Their positioning at 200-metre intervals provides a visual of the kilojoules burnt by each marked point.

Coming into spring, it’s the best time to start implementing a healthy lifestyle. From simply eating outside on lunch breaks, to taking a morning stroll, consider what small healthy changes you could be making now!
