How Have The Murrumbidgee Hospital Improvements Affected You? Rachel Viski

Emergency Departments across Murrumbidgee Local Health District are experiencing high demand, with patients across the district increasing from 29,901 in the April – June period last year to 30,310 in the same quarter this year.

The MLHD is working to accommodate patients through an increased budget and workforce.

The 2018/19 budget for Murrumbidgee Local Health District (MLHD) is over $606 million, which is $24.5 million more than the last financial year, and MLHD increased its workforce by 374 full time staff members.

These improvements seem to be working, with 84.9% of treatments commencing on time, and 81.2% of treatment durations decreasing to under 4 hours. Average ambulance transfer times have also decreased from 11 to 8 minutes.

In 2018-19 the NSW Government is investing a record $22.9 billion in health, representing a $1.1 billion increase over the 2017-18 Budget. This includes $19.2 billion towards improving services in hospitals in NSW this year.
