If you have an aspiring young actor on your hands, you can enrol them in drama classes held by Griffith Regional Theatre!
The classes are recommencing this year and after a great response in 2017, aspiring actors aged 9-12 are invited to take part in weekly theatre and script writing classes. And, for the first time this year, high school students can get involved with the launch of a performing Youth Theatre Troupe for kids aged 13-18 years.
Here's all of the extra information you need:
The Junior Troupe will commence on February 19, 2018 - 4:30pm-6pm every Monday for 6 weeks
The Senior Troupe will commence on February 7, 2018 - 5:00pm-6:30pm every Wednesday for 8 weeks
No experience is required and the classes will cover a range of theatre styles. Group and solo work, script writing and performance, improv and theatre games and a short performance at the end of each term.
As for who will be conducting the classes, local drama teacher and Best Actress in a Leading Role at the 2016 CAT (Canberra Area Theatre) Awards, Bonnie Owen, will be taking the classes.
Griffith Regional Theatre Manager Raina Savage said, “There is so much talent and interest in theatre performance in Griffith and we are lucky to have a teacher of Bonnie’s passion and experience to introduce a new generation to the magic of live theatre performance.
“In 2018 we will have our own performing youth theatre troupe for the older students, and present our own locally scripted and developed performances. But there will be plenty of fun and learning for the younger ones, too so we encourage all young people with a craving for the limelight to come along and join the fun.”
