Dust off your dresses and suits! Griffith Regional Art Gallery is rolling out the red carpet on Friday August 10 to celebrate 30 years of its iconic National Contemporary Jewellery Collection with a black tie cocktail party.

McWilliam's Family Wines have partnered with the Gallery to make this night truly unforgettable. There will be a high fashion and jewellery parafe, fine wines, amazing food, a Dj and a prize pool featuring some incredible jewellery.

Gallery Coordinator, Ray Wholohan said, “The National Contemporary Jewellery Awards is our signature event and always brings in amazing pieces of innovative object design using cutting edge techniques and pushing the boundaries of contemporary wearable art. With a bigger prize pool, including a locals only category, we are expecting even more amazing work this year from across Australia.”

For those who want to touch and not just look, there will be hands-on workshops running throughout August and September for the public to learn new skills in jewellery making, including resincasting, polymer clay sculpting, printing and image transfer, wirework and wax casting. Beginners welcome!

Griffith Regional Gallery Manager, Raina Savage, said “We really want the public to get involved with the National Contemporary Jewellery Awards and celebrate our renowned collection – by trying their hand at some new skills. With guidance from our highly skilled artists, who are all leaders in their fields, even the rawest beginner can make their own unique, handcrafted piece of signature jewellery in a fun, relaxed environment.”

Workshops will be running each weekend between August 11-September 16. For the full program or workshops and activities, head to www.griffithregionalartgallery.com.au. Registrations essential.

Tickets to the Gala Black Tie Awards Night are $30 and can be purchased online or by contacting the gallery on 6962 8338. Spaces are strictly limited.
