NSW Premier Gladys Berejiklian has announced that Daryl Maguire will resign from Parliament before it resumes on August 7, and there will be a by-election in the seat of Wagga.

Ms Berejiklian says though, despite speculation, she’s discussed the by-election with Nationals Leader John Barilaro, and it will not be a three-cornered contest.

The Premier says the Liberal Party has held the seat for half a century, and have already opened nominations.

The date for the by-election has not yet been set down, it will be decided by the Speaker and the Electoral Commission.
