Another independent candidate has entered the race for the seat of Wagga, with Doctor Joe McGirr launching his second tilt at the seat.

Dr McGirr ran as an independent in the 2011 state election, and has told the Daily Advertiser while throwing his hat into the ring this time wasn't an easy decision, coming at great personal cost, he believes the community is now searching for an alternative.

Health issues will once again be at the top of his agenda, he also reportedly favours an expemtion to the payroll tax for rural and regional businesses with a turnover of $4 million.

Meantime, the other Independent candidate for the seat, Paul Funnell, has announced his vision for the Wagga region and beyond, which he’s labeled the Wagga Blueprint.

It includes improvements to health facilities and new hospitals for Tumut and Griffith, with Mr Funnell saying it all starts with proper political representation of the people, and political accountability.

The Wagga Blueprint, according to Mr Funnell, is also designed to create jobs for the region, focusing on infrastructure projects, industry and transport.
