More than 200 of the state’s best volunteer firefighters are headed to Temora this weekend, to put their skills to the test in the NSW Rural Fire Service Championships.

The competition is in its 23rd year.

Following tonight’s official opening, the event will see volunteers compete in a series of simulated emergency situations at Lake Centenary, where their skills and equipment will be put to the test.

The winning team will get an Isuzu D-Max ute to use as a community support vehicle in their district for 2 years.
