Solid fuel fire bans are set to come into effect across the Riverina on October 5, and will be in place until further notice, as the local fire season gets off to an early start.

It means anyone planning a camping trip in the region over the warmer months will need to take gas appliances, though locals should also prepare for the possibility of total fire ban days, where gas fires are banned as well.

District Manager with the Forestry Corporation, Andrew McCurdy, says the coming ban will remain in place until the threat of bushfire eases.
