A Wagga Sheriff whose employment was terminated after he intervened to break up a fight between two women at the Wagga Local Court in February this year, has been offered his job back, after the Attorney-General intervened.

A 'code red' was called when one woman attacked another on the steps of the courthouse, with CCTV footage released by 2GB’S Ray Hadley this week, showing the Sheriff putting out his hand and lightly pushing the instigator in the opposite direction.

An investigation was launched, ending in the Sheriff’s sacking two weeks ago, amid claims of 'excessive force', according to Hadley.

The Public Service Association welcomed news the Sheriff will be reinstated.
