Primary Industries Minister visits Wagga to inspect drought conditions
More funding on the way
Minister for Primary Industries, Niall Blair is in the Riverina today, to see first-hand the effects of drought.
Mr Blair says while recent rainfall has helped in some parts, most of the Riverina remains drought-affected, and conditions in the west are at critical levels.
The visit comes off the back of yesterday's announcement of an additional $500 million in drought assistance, which will be made available to struggling farmers from next week.
It will take the form of Drought Transport Subsidies, cuts to farming fees and charges, and a boost for the Farm Innovation Fund, as well as counselling and mental health support.
