A boost for crime prevention in the Southern policing region, which includes the Riverina and Murrumbidgee Districts, with the announcement of a specialist squad to tackle serious, high risk, repeat domestic violence offenders.

The team will include a Sergeant, six constables and a civilian intelligence analyst.
They'll work closely with local police, however there’s concern about the decision to base the new team in the Illawarra.

Police Minister Troy Grant made the announcement while on the by-election campaign trail in Wagga yesterday with the Liberals' Julia Ham.

Mr Grant says as far as he’s concerned, there is absolutely no difference between violence in the home, and violence on the street.
