Millions Needed to Upgrade Temora Operating Theatre

Temora Shire Mayor Rick Firman says the community will not accept changes to the service provision at the Temora Hospital, being proposed by the Murrumbidgee Local Health District.

Cr Firman says that’s the clear message Council has received after meetings with relevant stakeholders in the past few days, following the news that the hospital’s operating theatre is earmarked for closure.

It would mean that maternity services provided by the hospital would be downgraded from Level 3 to Level 2, meaning caesarean sections and inductions would have to be carried out at Wagga, Cootamundra or Young.

Cr Firman says the MLHD has advised it would cost up to $5 million to upgrade the theatre.
