Lockhart Shire Council has been awarded a $120,000 grant from the state government to introduce food and garden organics waste collection for its residents.
The grant will go towards the purchase of bins, kitchens caddies and community education about the system, which is already in place in Wagga.
Wagga City Council has also been awarded a grant under the program, $70,000 dollars to extend its FOGO waste collection service to commercial premises.
The expansion will start with food supply businesses.
