The body representing Riverina farmers has responded to the State Government’s Emergency Drought Relief Package announced this week, saying the $500 million boost is generous, while stressing the importance of making it easily accessible to all farmers battling drought.

The newly-elected President of NSW Farmers James Jackson says the expansion of the drought transport subsidies to cover a range of activities recognizes that good animal welfare practice covers a variety of activities and required long-term planning.

Mr Jackson says as farmers continue to make tough decisions, they’re calling on the government to make it equitable and as easy as possible for them to access relief.
