Employees at Charles Sturt University now have access to domestic violence leave, with the uni bringing in the initiative as of December 1.

It provides those personally impacted by domestic violence, or who are supporting a family member, to access up to 15 days' leave to attend medical and legal appointments, or other support services.

Vice Chancellor Andrew Vann says too often, victims are blamed and questioned for their role in causing the abuse, and it’s stigmas like these that need to be called out and changed.

A number of related initiatives are in the works at CSU as well, including targeted training and awareness.
