Council Agrees to Front $3M for PCYC
Compromise Reached
Wagga City Council has agreed to contribute a total of $3 million in funding to the PCYC's proposed Wagga Youth Hub, with a formal funding partnership agreement to be developed between the two organisations.
The decision comes after a compromise, Council saying the PCYC has agreed to consider expanding the proposal to house four courts, instead of three.
Mayor Greg Conkey says a four-court facility allows Council to re-allocate borrowings of $2.36 million, that had been earmarked for Bolton Park stadium.
The rest of the funding comes from Council allowing the PCYC to sell some council-owned land as part of a package with its existing site, and waiving more than $150,000 in development fees.
