NSW Police and Local Land Services have conducted a joint operation, investigating compliance breaches on Travelling Stock Reserves across the Riverina region in response to concerns from local landholders.

Dubbed Operation Roadside, it saw an audit conducted at a Travelling Stock Reserve at Tallimba, near West Wyalong, uncovering multiple compliance issues.

An unauthoirised firearm and ammunition were located, along with almost 1000 head of cattle, which was in breach of the permit for 396 head.

Police are also investigating two alleged incidents of animal cruelty.
