Two residential fires

Busy weekend for firefighters

Firefighters were kept busy in Wagga over the weekend with two separate residential fires, the first on Cummins Road at Lake Albert on Friday night.

Crews were called out at around 7.20pm, finding half the house alight, and worked for an hour to extinguish the flames and render the site safe.

No-one was home at the time, it’s not yet known what caused the fire.

Meantime, firefighters were also called out to a kitchen fire in Mima Street Turvey Park early Saturday morning, though luckily it had self-extinguished after flames got into the roof cavity and burst a water pipe.
