A bulldozer has been torched as vandals set upon a construction site at Golden Bay, causing $400,000 worth of damage.
Security spotted the blaze at the site just after 9.30pm last night.
It's the latest setback at the building site where sand dunes are being levelled for a housing development, which has sparked controversy in the local community.
Residents have been rallying against the demolition of the dunes this week, but its understood the protesters are disappointed about the vandalism.
No one has been blamed for the vandalism yet but police are investigating.
