A Perth dog has just equalled an Australian record by giving birth to a whopping 18 healthy pups.
West Coast Veterinary Clinic employees were amazed on Monday when they assisted the Perth Doberman, Sassy, in giving birth to the litter.
According to the West Australian, the caesarean, which took over 90 minutes, required three vets, two students, two nurses, two work experience employees, and a receptionist to assist in order for all puppies to arrive safely.
“The surgery took about an hour and it was quite in depth – I lost count after about eight or nine puppies so just carried on,” West Coast Vets' Aaron Raney told Nine News.
All puppies survived the birth and the vets are now helping Sassy take care of her new family.
