Woman Hit By High-Range Drink Driver In Nelson Bay

Police say the driver blew 0.170

A woman's been left seriously injured after being hit by a car driven by a high-range drink driver in Nelson Bay.

The 25 year old was walking along Magnus Street just after midnight, when she was struck by a Mazda ute.

The vehicle then crossed the street and hit the front of a home.

The woman was taken to John Hunter Hospital suffering serious injuries.

The 43 year old male driver suffered minor injuries.

He was breath tested and allegedly returned a reading of 0.170.

Police charged him with high-range drink driving and cause bodily harm by misconduct.

He'll appear in Raymond Terrace Court on August 28.
