An unwanted honour for Maitland.
The city's recorded the highest price increase in unleaded petrol in regional New South Wales, according to the NRMA.
The cost at the bowser has increased a whopping 11.6 cents in just the last week. Next on the list is Goulburn with a 6.8 cent increase, and Muswellbrook with a 6.5 cent increase.
There's bad news for Bulahdelah as well, which boasts the most expensive unleaded in the state's regional areas - at $1.35/L.
NRMA President Kyle Loades says the spike is staggering.
"The average across the state is an increase of two cents," he said. "But in Maitland they've copped a big hiding."
