Port Stephens Bushfire

The Anna Bay fire still burns out of control, but it's been downgraded from the advice to the watch and act level.

The Rural Fire Service is currently battling a serious blaze in Port Stephens.

The out of control fire broke out grass and swamp land near Fenninghams Island Road in Anna Bay and has spread to 17 hectares and is burning parallel to Nelson Bay Road.

Thankfully the fire isn't currently threatening homes as it continues to burn in an easterly direction, however the high winds are making things difficult for ground crews trying to contain it.
