A man accused of several attempted robberies and carjackings through Tighes Hill in Newcastle has been tasered by police.
Just before 8:30am the man in his 40s allegedly held up a service station on Maitland Road, with the attendant handing over some cash.
Shortly after it's claimed he tried to steal a woman's car on Elizabeth Street, but was unsuccessful.
He then flagged down a taxi, before trying to rob the driver and steal the car.
The taxi driver got away and ran into a nearby store on Elizabeth Street.
The accused followed and then tried to rob another three people inside the shop.
He was arrested a short time later after police tasered him, and is under police guard in the John Hunter for an existing medical condition.
