Firefighters have worked through the night to contain a bushfire on Mount Tomaree at Shoal Bay.
The iconic headland, which is popular with bushwalkers, resembled an erupting volcano as flames soared into the night's sky.
The fire didn't pose any threat to homes and is listed by the RFS as 'being controlled'.
Water bombers may be used today to extinguish the fire.
