Passengers flying out of Newcastle Airport are being told to get there 30 minutes earlier than usual due to increased security measures.
Travellers at major airports around the country have been asked to arrive two hours early, due to the foiled terror plot in Sydney to bring down a plane.
However Newcastle Airport CEO Peter Cock says there's no need to arrive that early at Williamtown.
"We're advising people to get to Newcastle Airport about half an hour earlier than you wold normally come to the airport," he said.
"We're not a gateway airport like Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane."
