There's a fair bit of smoke in parts of the Hunter this afternoon.
Firefighters are carrying out three hazard reduction burns ahead of a potentially disastrous bush fire season.
Crews are working in the Columbey National Park at Clarencetown and the Medowie State Conservation Area.
There's also a small burn off in Blackbutt Reserve.
The National Park and Wildlife Service is warning drivers to take care near the burn offs.
People with asthma or similar respiratory problems are advised to keep clear of affected areas or stay indoors.
