A Hunter politician will attend Donald Trump's presidential inauguration later this week.
One Nation leader Pauline Hanson was invited but can't go due to work commitments - with Lake Macquarie local Brian Burston set to go in her place.
The senator says it's pretty special to attend such a historic event.
"I'm quite excited. It was pretty unexpected."
"I'll be telling people I'm from the beautiful Hunter region - one of the best wine regions in the world."
"I'm paying for it myself too folks - no taxpayer money here."
The President-elect will be sworn in at a ceremony in Washington DC on January 20.
