A Corrective Services employee has been charged with smuggling contraband into Cessnock Jail.
It's alleged the 29-year-old was caught with drugs in his wallet during a drug dog operation on Monday.
Police claim he smuggled banned substances into the jail ten times this year to sell for cash.
He's facing five charges and has been handed conditional bail ahead of facing Cessnock Court in late January.
The accused has also been suspended from duty.
