UPDATE: It'll be a while yet before things are back to normal on Macquarie Road in Cardiff following this morning's burst water main.
Hunter Water is working on repairing the offending pipe, but there's now a large hole in the road at the intersection of Myall Road.
The water line won't be fixed until 10pm - and only then can the road be resurfaced.
Traffic controllers are allowing cars to intermittently head north and south down a single lane.
The left turn from Myall Road into Macquarie Road is open, but Munibung Road remains closed in both directions between Macquarie Road and Pendlebury Road.
Avoid the area if possible.
EARLIER: A burst water main is causing major issues at Cardiff this morning.
It's forced the closure of the busy intersection of Macquarie Road and Myall Road.
Traffic is being diverted, however there are heavy delays in the surrounding area.
Lake Macquarie Police say it could be hours before the intersection fully re-opens, with fears the road has been undermined.
Myall Road has re-opened, however Macquarie Road remains closed.
A Hunter Water spokesperson says water supply has returned for most customers in Cardiff, Cardiff South, Macquarie Hills and Warners Bay.
However they may still experience low water pressure.
Nearby Cardiff RSL Club is closed until further notice.
