A humbling image has emerged from the US, showing a nursery rhyme taught to children which contains safety instructions in case of a school shooting.
The picture surfaced on Twitter, with a song to the tune of Twinkle Twinkle hanging up for a kindergarten class.
The lyrics read:
Lockdown, lockdown, lock the door.
Shut off the lights, say no more.
Go behind the desk and hide.
Wait until it's safe inside.
Lockdown, lockdown, it's all done.
Now it's time to have some fun.
The post garnered a wide response from parents whose children have had similar disguised safety lessons taught at school, including a stealth game which involved children hiding in the corner until it was 'safe'.
There have been 23 shootings in US schools this year alone which have resulted in one or more deaths.
