Avocado prices are expected to fall in coming weeks, as the Queensland harvest begins.
Avocados have reached highs of up to $7 a fruit recently, following a shortage. This is partly due to increased demand and storms in New Zealand.
However, thankfully for avo toast lovers, the harvesting of the north Queensland avocados crops will begin in mid-Feb.
Avocado producers in Australia have struggled to keep up with demand, John Tyras, CEO of Avocados Australia told the ABC:
"What we're finding is every year is this insatiable appetite for avocados right around the country and we just struggle at this time of the year," he says.
