Researchers Need Your Help In A Huge Survey Investigating The Link Between Eating Disorders And Obesity File

Researchers are Deakin University are looking to the public for help to find the connection between obesity and eating disorders.

The Melbourne research team have teamed up with universities from over the world to survey 6000 young adults about their attitudes to food and exercise.

Marita McCabe, a professor of psychology working on the study told Hit.com.au there was a lot of research about eating disorders and obesity but there was still a lot to be done in terms of the relationship between the precursrers for the two.

She said things like pressure to lose weight from friends and family, as well as unhealthy weight control behaviours, can both lead to eating disorders and obesity.

In Australia, one in six young people have eating disorders, while 28% are overweight or obese.
