A national recall has been issued after it was found at a range of vehicles could have faulty latches - which could see the door spring open while driving.

The Australian Competition and Consumer Commission has issued the recall notice, noting that the issue stems from the pawl spring tab in the side-door latch is affected, which could prevent proper latching.

The affected vehicles include 42,907 Ford Fiesta vehicles (May 27, 2010 to September 1, 2016) and 85,863 Ford Ranger vehicles (May 23, 2011 to May 20, 2015).

A noted hazard is that the door may unlatch while driving, which could result in the occupant falling out of the vehicle.

Anyone with an affected vehicle will be contact by Ford for a diagnosis appointment and repair.
