One of Australia's most sadistic killers, John Earnest Cribb, had died of natural causes in Goulburn prison.
Cribb, 67, was serving three life sentences for murdering Valda Connell and her children Sally (10) and Damien (4) in 1978.
He had abducted the three of them from their Baulkham Hills home in Sydney, raping the mother in front of the children before stabbing them to death and leaving them in the boot of his car.
According to the Daily Telegraph, he also was later convicted of raping two teenagers. He was understood to have escaped from a mental hospital.
He was jailed for life.
